Charlie Siem. From the age of three, Charlie Siem knew he wanted
to play the violin. Little did he suspect that by his early twenties
he'd be playing with Bryan Adams, international symphony orchestras,
and on the catwalk kitted out by Vivienne Westwood. Indisputably a
prodigy with film star looks, he adorns the stage at the City Hall
on Friday, playing the romantic Bruch Violin Concerto with the Czech
National Symphony Orchestra.
He joined Trisha 'In Conversation' before the concert.
Markus
Stenz. German-born Markus Stenz is only the second Principal Guest
Conductor in the 150 year history of The Halle. He joined Trisha in
a high entertaining 'pre-concert Conversation' on 23rd October.
Vasily
Petrenko is the youngest-ever Principal Conductor of the RLPO.
Having moved with his family from St. Petersburg to the Wirral, he
has transformed the fortunes of the orchestra and is currently mid-way
through recording all the symphonies of fellow-countryman Shostakovich.
A regular visitor to Sheffield, the popular and charismatic Music
Director of the Hallé orchestra, Mark Elder, conducted
the Gala re-opening of the historic City Hall and joined Trisha for
their ever-popular 'In Converstion' before the concert.
The
Hungarian Maestro Zoltan Kocsis joined Trisha in the Memoral
Hall despite refusing all invitations to speak throughout the rest
of the tour! Included in the programme was Zoltan's own arrangement
of Rachmaninov's songs.
Nikolai
Demidenko studied at the Moscow Conservatoire and made his British
début in 1985 with the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has
been resident in the UK since 1990 and joined Trisha 'In Conversation'
before the Moscow Radio symphony concert.
